Meerut May 6 (). In Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, the Kithore police station has raided and busted a factory manufacturing illegal firearms. The police raided and arrested two accused and recovered a large number of illegal weapons and manufacturing equipment from their possession.
Meerut Police has launched a campaign to nab miscreants in view of the upcoming municipal elections, during which the police have arrested two accused allegedly involved in making, selling and buying illegal weapons. During the raid on Saturday, the police team recovered 5 country-made pistols (315 bore), 4 pistols (12 bore), 4 live cartridges and material used in making illegal weapons from them. The accused have been identified as Shakeel and Bhure, residents of Kithore.
Rural Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Bahadur said, Kithore police station had received information from the informer on Saturday regarding the manufacture and supply of weapons.
The ASP said, acting immediately on the information, the local police arrested two accused involved in the manufacture and supply of weapons inside the sugarcane field opposite Ishapur Mor under Kithore police station.
The ASP said that the accused have confessed to the crime during interrogation. They used to make and supply weapons on demand. The recovered weapons were to be supplied in the civic elections. But before that the police raided and recovered the weapons.
The ASP said that an FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections at Police Station Kithore. He said that further investigation is being done in the matter.
