Lucknow, May 13 (). Counting of votes is going on in the civic elections. In the initial trends, BJP is maintaining an edge. In the initial round of 17 seats of Municipal Corporation, BJP is ahead in 16 seats. While Congress is leading in one seat.
The first round of counting of votes for mayor and councilors in Kanpur civic elections has been completed. As soon as the counting of votes started, the heartbeat of the candidates increased. Congress candidate Ashni Vikas Awasthi got 306 votes in the first round of counting.
Before the counting, SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at the Election Commission by tweeting. He said- I hope the Election Commission will keep telling the figures after every round, so that public confidence is maintained. At the same time, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has claimed that the BJP will clean sweep all the 17 corporation seats. Because, development can only be done by the BJP government, the opposition can only play cheek.
The candidate and his agent were given entry after checking at the Anaj Mandi counting venue in Govindpuram, Ghaziabad. A crowd of supporters and people has gathered outside the counting venue. Counting is underway at Loni Inter College. Mayor candidate from BJP Sunita Dayal is present at the counting site.
