New Delhi, May 19 (). The Congress has sent invitations to 19 like-minded parties for the swearing-in ceremony of the Karnataka government. While Congress has left 10 parties including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bahujan Samaj Party (AAP), Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS).
In Karnataka, the Congress won 135 of the southern state’s 224 seats, while the ruling BJP was reduced to 66 seats. According to party sources, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has sent invitations to 19 parties to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the party’s government in Bengaluru on May 20.
A party source said that Kharge has joined hands with Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP, Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party, Jayant Chaudhary-led RLD, Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal, CPI-ML, Invitations were sent to CPI-M, CPI, Trinamool Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Shiv Sena-UBT, MDMK, NCP, VCK, Kerala Congress, IUML and RSP.
The source said the party has not invited Mayawati’s BSP to the swearing-in ceremony. Mayawati was present during the 2018 swearing-in ceremony of the Congress-JDS government in Bengaluru.
Besides AAP and BSP, Congress has not invited BRS, Telugu Desam Party, Biju Janata Dal, AIMIM, AIUDF, INLD and JDS for the swearing-in ceremony.
Several leaders have already been confirmed to attend the swearing-in ceremony to be held in Bengaluru on Saturday.
