Jaipur, May 20 (). Police sources said that more than Rs 2.31 crore in cash and one kg of gold have been recovered from the locked cupboard of Yojna Bhawan in Jaipur.
The police have seized the cash and gold.
Seven employees of Yojana Bhavan were detained in connection with the crime and are being questioned. Sources said the trolley suitcase kept in the cupboard contained Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes.
Yojana Bhawan houses departments like Income Tax, Jan Aadhaar etc.
After the incident, Chief Secretary Usha Sharma gave complete information to the Chief Minister.
Chief Secretary Sharma, DGP Umesh Mishra and Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava held a press conference in this regard at 11 pm on Friday night.
According to Jaipur Police Commissioner Anand Srivastava, the recovery happened when officials found two locked cupboards during the digitization of files under the e-filing project.
Locks were broken due to non-availability of keys. While some files were found in one cupboard, the other contained a trolley-suitcase full of notes.
The employees informed the Ashok Nagar police station.
The SHO and senior police officers also reached the spot and seized the notes.
One kg gold biscuits were also recovered along with Rs 2.31 crore in cash.
