If political experts are to be believed, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had taken such a risk to create an atmosphere in favor of SP on the issue of backward and Dalits. But the latest results did not seem to make any sense, rather the hopes of opposition unity were definitely dashed.

Omprakash Rajbhar, who fought the 2022 assembly elections with the SP, also appeared in the BJP’s court in this election. Although the voting was secret, but their jugalbandi made one feel that they were preparing the way for the Lok Sabha.

On the other hand, the Congress boycotted the entire election. Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said that no one has approached from the SP side, the people of the state want freedom from both these parties, we will give leadership to the state in the form of a new alternative.

If political experts are to be believed, the SP could pat itself on the back by fielding a Dalit and backward candidate in the MLC by-election, but the effort to awaken the conscience of the BJP MLAs on the question of backward and Dalits could not yield any results.

Political analyst Prasun Pandey says that this election has proved that SP could not live up to the expectation of opposition unity. There may not have been any hope from the BSP, but if the SP had taken two Congress MLAs in its fold, a message would have gone that the SP can become the pivot of opposition unity. But this could not happen. Congress also wants to bring non-BJP parties under its umbrella by becoming a strong pillar of opposition unity by estimating itself as strong with the results of Karnataka elections.

On the other hand, BSP chief Mayawati had distanced herself from the MLC elections. He also blamed the SP for defeating the Dalits and Backwards in this election. He said that despite the defeat being certain in the by-elections held yesterday for the two seats of the UP Legislative Council, the SP fielding Dalit and OBC candidates, defeating them and ignoring them when they have more numbers, proves that the support of these classes SP’s conspiratorial policy has not changed a bit.

He said that Dalits, other backward and marginalized people were being harmed a lot due to their narrow and hateful politics during the SP and their previous governments.

Knowing about politics, Amodkant told that after assembly and urban body elections, SP has got disappointed in this election also. However, the matter of relief for SP is that its alliance with RLD remained strong. Congress and BSP did not support SP. Two Congress MLAs and only one BSP MLA did not participate in the voting.

It should be noted that in the by-elections for two seats in the Legislative Council, BJP’s Manvendra Singh got 280 votes and Padmasen got 279 votes. Similarly, SP’s Ramjatan Rajbhar got 115 votes and Ramkaran Nirmal got 116 votes. One vote each was declared invalid in the voting for both the posts.
