The top court was hearing a plea against the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court canceling the anticipatory bail granted to a man accused of abducting a girl. The girl informed the court that she wanted to return to Varanasi.

The top court noted that the High Court had canceled the anticipatory bail of a person accused of kidnapping after finding that he was not cooperating in the investigation and did not respond to the investigating officer when his presence was sought.

After hearing the arguments, the bench said it was not inclined to interfere with the order of the High Court. The bench directed the petitioner to surrender before the police within two days. The bench directed the SHO of Tilak Marg in New Delhi to provide security to the girl and make arrangements for her return to Varanasi on Tuesday itself.

The apex court clarified that the petitioner may seek bail as permissible under law and the court concerned should decide it as expeditiously as possible without being influenced by the observations made in the present order.
