Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh), June 4 (). A tigress died allegedly due to previous injuries after an alleged encounter with locals in Dudhwa buffer zone.
The tigress first entered a house in Rampur Dhakaiya village of Mailani range on Saturday.
Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) field director B. Prabhakar said a rapid response team (RRT) was sent to the village which tried to take the tigress back into the wild. However, the tigress, which looked weak, attacked the RRT vehicle and damaged its window panes and hid in the nearby bushes.
When there was no movement for some time, an investigation was conducted in which it was found that the tigress was dead.
Significantly, a few days back, the carcass of a four-year-old male tiger was found in the northern Nighasan range of Dudhwa buffer zone.
His postmortem report revealed that the cause of his death could be a rupture of the trachea in a fight with another large animal.
Regarding Saturday’s incident, he said preliminary investigation has ruled out poaching or attempt to poison as all parts of the body have been found to be correct. His fangs and toe nails were damaged. There were two puncture wounds on the abdomen and a wound near one of the paws.
