Rohtak (Haryana), June 4 (). Senior Congress leader and two-time Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda on Sunday paid tributes to Sant Kabir Das on his birth anniversary, saying he not only fought against social evils but also taught the world lessons of humanity and love.
He said, Saint Kabir is our guide. Both Hindu and Muslim sects considered him their own. In fact, Saint Kabir was such a person, whom every human being respects.
Addressing a public meeting here, Hooda paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the horrific train accident in Odisha and said, “We believe that every political party should take inspiration from the philosophy of Kabir Das while formulating its policies, so that Participation can be ensured at all levels.
Hooda is currently the Leader of the Opposition in the Haryana Legislative Assembly. He said that the Congress has always given priority to the welfare of the Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and the poor.
He said, the previous Congress government started many schemes to empower the poor, scheduled castes, backward classes. We have built schools in every village and locality to educate children.
Hooda said, we had also started a scholarship scheme for 20 lakh children from class 1 to 12. After this, arrangements were made for scholarship up to Rs 14 thousand per month in higher education as well. But this government has stopped all the schemes meant for the poor. Privatized education and increased the fees of higher educational institutions. Fees in medical colleges are now beyond the reach of middle class students.
With an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, Hooda assured that the recruitment of safai karamcharis will be done after the Congress government is formed in the state.
He assured, farmers will be given MSP (minimum support price) by adding 50 per cent profit on cost. When the Congress government is formed, all welfare schemes will be restarted and the backlog of jobs will be filled.
State Congress unit president Udaybhan said that with the formation of the Congress government in Haryana, the old pension scheme of the employees would be implemented.
He said, the present government has cut the pension and is also showing indifference in making ration cards. The pension will be restored once the Congress government is formed. We will give a pension of Rs 6,000 to the elderly and everyone will be given 300 units of electricity free of cost. It is our resolve that we will resume the scheme of giving free plots of 100 yards to the poor and allotting a two-room house on it.
He said that after Congress comes to power, 2 lakh government vacancies will be filled and every housewife will be given a domestic gas cylinder for Rs.500.
