JioHotstar. India’s leading telecom service provider, Reliance Jio, has made changes to its prepaid plans, removing the complimentary JioCinema subscription. This decision follows the merger of JioCinema with Disney+ Hotstar, leading to the launch of India’s largest OTT platform, JioHotstar. Previously, several Jio prepaid plans included free access to JioCinema, allowing users to stream movies, live sports, web series, and TV shows. However, users can still avail of a complimentary JioHotstar subscription with select prepaid recharge plans.
Changes in Jio Prepaid Plans
The removal of JioCinema has affected multiple prepaid plans, including those with 28-day validity starting at ₹249, as well as annual plans priced at ₹3,599. Despite this change, Jio continues to offer benefits like JioTV and JioCloud at no additional cost. Additionally, Jio is still providing bundled OTT subscriptions to platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, FanCode, and ZEE5-SonyLIV with select prepaid plans.
However, users who wish to access JioCinema content will now need to subscribe to JioHotstar, which offers multiple membership tiers.
How to Get a JioHotstar Subscription?
If you want to continue enjoying JioHotstar, you can opt for the following prepaid plans:
₹195 Cricket Data Pack – This pack offers 90 days of validity, along with 15GB of high-speed internet data. It also includes a JioHotstar subscription at no extra cost.
₹949 Prepaid Plan – This plan provides 84 days of validity, 2GB of daily data, and a complimentary JioHotstar subscription. Additionally, users get access to JioCloud and JioTV, along with unlimited voice calling and 100 free SMS per day.
With these new changes, Jio users can still enjoy premium OTT content, but they will need to opt for specific plans to access JioHotstar.
