On August 26, 2025, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed searches at the residence of former Delhi Health Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with several others, as part of an alleged money laundering investigation. The raids, which took place at 13 locations across the national capital, were related to purported irregularities in health infrastructure projects during the previous AAP administration. Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior AAP figure Manish Sisodia, who is also implicated in this case, criticized the ED’s actions as a “political maneuver” designed to distract from the controversy surrounding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualifications. He stated on X, “Yesterday the entire nation was questioning Modi ji about his degree.
As the truth emerged, they could not confront it and thus, today, they have shifted focus with ED raids on Saurabh Bharadwaj. The real question for the country is whether Modi ji’s degree is authentic. Unable to respond, they have initiated cases against AAP leaders and commenced raids.” Sisodia added that Bharadwaj was not in office when the alleged irregularities occurred, claiming that those truly interested in the facts would realize that all these cases are as fabricated as Modi’s degree. He also referenced previous investigations into AAP leaders like Satyendar Jain, who spent three years in custody while the CBI and ED searched for evidence but found none.
