Renowned director SS Rajamouli is preparing for his next major film starring Superstar Mahesh Babu, provisionally named Globetrotter. The film is set for a global release on March 25, 2027, which will mark Mahesh Babu’s largest international debut to date. A significant portion of the narrative is set in forests, with Africa selected as the main backdrop. Currently, filming is taking place in Kenya, where nearly 95% of the African scenes are being captured. The production showcases iconic locations such as Masai Mara, Naivasha, Samburu, and Amboseli, supported by a crew of over 120 members working on this expansive schedule. During the filming, Rajamouli met with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who commended the director’s vision.
The minister also announced that Globetrotter will debut in 120 countries, achieving the record for the widest release of any Indian film. This achievement surpasses previous Bollywood films such as Pathaan, Vikram Vedha, and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which also had significant global releases. Currently, the filmmakers are keeping details under wraps, with no promotional materials shared yet. Even on Mahesh Babu’s birthday in August, there were no updates. However, the team has indicated that the first look will be revealed in November 2025, with speculation that James Cameron may present it during his visit to India for Avatar: The Fire and Ash. The film includes notable performances by Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Produced by KL Narayana under Durga Arts and featuring music by MM Keeravani, Globetrotter aims to elevate Indian cinema to new global heights.
