On September 15, 2025, Indian Railways announced the operation of an 8-parcel van coach rapid cargo train, with each coach capable of carrying 23 tonnes, from Badgam Railway Station in the Kashmir Valley to Adarsh Nagar in Delhi. The train was flagged off by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, at the Srinagar Railway Station. The inauguration was attended by Agriculture Minister Shri Javid Ahmad Dar, Additional Member of the Railway Board Dr. Manoj Singh, Divisional Railway Manager Jammu Shri Vivek Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Jammu Shri Uchit Singhal, Railway Area Chief Manager Kashmir Valley Shri Saqib Yusuf, along with other senior officials and local business representatives.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police Orchestra Band performed patriotic music to celebrate the occasion. In his speech, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha expressed happiness in being part of this significant initiative, which aims to boost the region’s economic development. The new parcel cargo train service is designed to offer a fast, safe, and reliable transport option for various goods, ensuring timely delivery and reduced logistics costs. Divisional Railway Manager Shri Vivek Kumar highlighted that this marks a historic achievement, showcasing Indian Railways’ vital role in national development and commitment to improving logistics.
