Tensions have escalated in Bihar after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that supporters of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav used derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during the concluding phase of his ‘Bihar Adhikar Yatra’ in Mahua. The BJP released a video from the rally that purportedly captured these abusive remarks, asserting that Tejashwi encouraged such behavior among RJD workers. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary condemned the incident, claiming Tejashwi disrespected Bihar’s culture and that the state’s mothers and sisters would hold him accountable for this abusive politics. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha also expressed outrage, describing the incident as shocking and indicative of the opposition’s mentality.
This controversy follows a prior uproar when a video from Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar incited protests over alleged insults to Modi’s mother. The RJD has strongly refuted the BJP’s recent allegations. Mahua MLA Dr. Mukesh Roushan stated that the video was manipulated as part of a plot to damage Tejashwi Yadav’s reputation, insisting that no RJD member used such language and accusing the BJP of fabricating evidence to tarnish their party’s image. This incident has further polarized the political landscape in Bihar, anticipating heightened confrontations in the lead-up to elections.
