Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significance of Navratri this year, emphasizing the renewed strength of the ‘swadeshi’ spirit in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He referred to the festival as a ‘GST-saving festival’ and urged all citizens to contribute towards realizing the vision of a developed India. By adopting ‘swadeshi’, similar to the efforts of our ancestors during the freedom struggle, everyone can aid in the nation’s progress. Modi stated that the strength of ‘swadeshi’ should be present in every household, and indigenous products should be available in every store. Additionally, Monday marked the implementation of reduced GST rates on various items, which Modi had labeled a saving festival in his national address on Sunday.
He explained that these reforms would make essential goods and services, including homes, cars, and household appliances, more affordable, thus moving closer to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and promoting inclusive growth. Citizens will find it easier to fulfill personal aspirations like purchasing a home, television, refrigerator, or vehicles such as scooters, bikes, or cars. He also mentioned that travel would become more budget-friendly due to announced GST reductions on most hotel accommodations.
