In a ceremony honoring mainstream cinema, President Droupadi Murmu awarded National Awards for acting to Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Rani Mukerji, while Malayalam icon Mohanlal received the Dadasaheb Phalke lifetime achievement award. Sudipto Sen earned the best director accolade for “The Kerala Story.” The National Awards for 2023 were revealed in August, marking the first win for frequent collaborators Shah Rukh and Rani, as well as for Vikrant.
Shah Rukh was honored for his performance in “Jawan,” sharing the accolade with Vikrant, while Rani received recognition for her role in “Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.”
