Zee TV’s newest series, Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, has captivated audiences with its compelling narrative and intricate storytelling. Based on Zee Kannada’s renowned Puttakana Makkalu, the show follows the emotional journey of Ganga Mai, a woman deserted by her husband for not having a son. Opting for dignity rather than despair, she courageously raises her three daughters against the poignant backdrop of Varanasi. The series beautifully honors women’s resilience and the unbreakable connection between a mother and her daughters. Producer and actress Sargun Mehta, who co-runs Dreamiyata with her husband Ravie Dubey, emphasized that what sets Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan apart is not only its plot but also its extensive cast of characters.
With nearly 35 roles filled over the course of six months, this production has proven to be one of the most challenging yet rewarding endeavors for her. Sargun remarked, “Very few television shows allow for the exploration of so many characters, each with a unique story and depth. We’ve cast around 35 characters, which took almost six months, making it our toughest casting journey to date. However, we were resolute in finding the right actor for every part—regardless of its size—so that the world of the show feels genuine and vibrant. Whenever I watch certain scenes, I can’t help but smile, and I’m eager to see if the audience shares that sentiment.
We’ve invested our heart and soul into this show, and it’s gratifying to witness its connection with viewers.” With its multidimensional characters, realistic setting, and emotional storytelling, Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan is already making a significant impact on audiences, providing not just a drama but an experience that inspires joy, sorrow, and reflection.
