Prime Minister Modi Highlights Odisha's Progress Under Double-Engine Government

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that Odisha is advancing with the support of the double-engine government to achieve the vision of a ‘Viksit Odisha,’ a commitment made by the state’s residents during the Assembly elections 18 months ago. Speaking to a large crowd at Amalipali Ground in Jharsuguda, Modi remarked, “About one-and-a-half years ago, during the Assembly elections, the people of Odisha made a new pledge to progress with a fresh resolution. That resolution aimed for a ‘Viksit Odisha (Developed Odisha),’ and today we are witnessing the state gaining momentum through the double-engine government.

Today, for the development of Odisha and the country, projects worth thousands of crores of rupees have been inaugurated.” Modi reaffirmed that Odisha is firmly on the path of advancement and promised that the pace of development will quicken. “Our government is dedicated to serving and empowering the poor, focusing on providing essential services to underprivileged groups, including Dalits, Backward Classes, and tribal communities,” the Prime Minister emphasized, adding that today’s event reflects this commitment. He expressed his unwavering belief in the abilities and talent of the people of Odisha, acknowledging that the state has been blessed by nature. While recognizing Odisha’s history of poverty, he asserted that the upcoming decade will bring prosperity to its citizens.

To facilitate this, the government is introducing significant projects to the state, including the recent approval of two semiconductor units and the establishment of a semiconductor park, highlighting the strength and potential of Odisha’s youth. Modi envisioned a future where the small chips used in various devices such as phones, televisions, and cars will be produced in Odisha. With the implementation of GST, taxes have been lowered, allowing farmers to save approximately ₹40,000 on tractors. He noted that the state has a substantial tribal population relying on forest resources, and the government has made efforts to support kendu leaf collectors by significantly reducing GST on this product to ensure better pricing for them.
