In New Delhi, a 19-year-old man has been detained for allegedly striking a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident in the Paharganj area, according to an official statement on Monday. The event took place on Sadar Thana Road on September 25, when the suspect, identified as Vishnu and residing in Nabi Karim, collided with a pedestrian while operating a motorcycle. The injured individual was transported to Lady Hardinge Hospital in critical condition, as reported by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Nidhin Valsan. “There were no eyewitnesses at the scene or in the hospital, prompting the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Paharganj police station,” the officer noted.
A police team was assembled, and CCTV footage was reviewed. Following secret information, authorities discovered an abandoned motorcycle in Nabi Karim, which was confirmed to be the vehicle involved in the incident. The bike’s owner indicated that it was being used by Vishnu, who was subsequently apprehended. During questioning, he claimed that the victim unexpectedly came in front of his vehicle, causing him to lose control and hit the pedestrian. In panic, he fled the scene,” the DCP stated.
