A female student at South Asian University (SAU) was reportedly sexually assaulted by four individuals on campus, leading to student protests. The incident occurred on October 13, when the student was discovered injured and with torn clothing, a day after she had been reported missing, according to police statements on Tuesday. SAU condemned the incident in strong terms, affirming its support for its students. A police control room call was received at Maidan Garhi police station around 3 PM on Monday, indicating that the missing student from SAU, located in Chhatarpur, South Delhi, was found injured on campus. The call was made by someone familiar with the student. Law enforcement quickly dispatched a team to the scene.
Following the victim’s account, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under the appropriate sections. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan stated that the investigation is being conducted with necessary sensitivity and urgency. The student was located near the university auditorium after a thorough search and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation and counseling.
