Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday dismissed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s accusation that the Rashtriya Janata Dal pressured Congress to name Tejashwi Yadav as the Mahagathbandhan’s candidate for the chief minister position in Bihar. “All of this is a lie. He has nothing else to say. I will address this today in Bihar. What he is saying is false. Nobody would force another to appoint someone as chief minister under duress,” Kharge stated. “Congress has never engaged in such actions. Modi ji is the Prime Minister of this country; his statements are ridiculous. This reflects his character,” he added, emphasizing that Modi is delivering election speeches in Bihar.
Kharge’s comments followed the Prime Minister’s claim on Sunday that the RJD had ‘snatched’ the chief minister’s role from Congress due to pressure.
