Gopalganj: In response to the bomb blast in Delhi on November 10, a high alert has been declared in Bihar, particularly in Gopalganj district, which shares a border with Uttar Pradesh. Security measures have been enhanced at the renowned Thawe Durga Temple, a key religious site in Bihar. Following directives from Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar, law enforcement has ramped up monitoring and is closely observing crowded areas. Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit is personally overseeing the security protocols at the temple and surrounding locations to ensure that any suspicious activities are promptly identified.
Bomb disposal teams and units equipped with metal detectors are positioned at the temple and Thawe Junction railway station, where they are inspecting bags, vehicles, and the belongings of visitors. Additionally, police are conducting searches at hotels, guest houses, restaurants, and other busy locations throughout the district. This operation is part of efforts to maintain safety in Gopalganj following the Delhi blast, which raised concerns about potential threats elsewhere in the country. The alert was issued by the Home Ministry, prompting the Bihar DGP to instruct all Superintendents of Police statewide to enhance vigilance at crucial sites, including tourist attractions and major railway stations. In compliance with this directive, additional police forces have been stationed in Gopalganj and adjacent districts.
Officials have been directed to monitor all activities in public and tourist areas. This rigorous checking is implemented as a precautionary measure to prevent any adverse incidents. Gopalganj has been under scrutiny from security agencies due to previous arrests of several suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in the district. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has previously apprehended multiple individuals, including Sheikh Abdul Naeem and others. Given these past connections, local police have been advised to exercise heightened caution following the Delhi explosion. Security measures have also been bolstered in Siwan district. On Monday night, the Railway Police Force (RPF), Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF), and Government Railway Police (GRP) conducted a coordinated inspection at Siwan Junction railway station.
They thoroughly examined platforms, waiting areas, and trains to ensure passenger safety. Police officials have stated that these checks will persist in the upcoming days, and citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities without delay.
