India has fallen to the fourth position in the World Test Championship 2025–27 standings. Previously in third place before their first Test against South Africa, their defeat at Eden Gardens has decreased their points percentage to 54.17%. Following their victory over India, South Africa has risen to second place with a points percentage of 66.67%. Having started in fourth position, South Africa has now secured a top-two spot. Should India lose their next Test, they risk slipping to fifth place, below Pakistan. In their WTC journey thus far, India drew their series against England 2–2 and finished third in the previous cycle. They subsequently defeated the West Indies 2–0, raising their points percentage to 61.90%.

However, despite this improvement, they could not break into the top two, and the recent loss has led to their current fourth position. The latest WTC standings are: 1st: Australia, 2nd: South Africa, 3rd: Sri Lanka, 4th: India, 5th: Pakistan, 6th: England, 7th: Bangladesh, 8th: West Indies (having lost all five Tests so far). India has played eight Tests, securing four wins and three losses, resulting in their current points percentage of 54.17%.
