New Delhi, December 09, 2025. – AAP MP Raghav Chadha has urged the government to end 10-minute delivery services, citing risks to gig workers.
AAP MP Raghav Chadha has called for an end to 10-minute delivery services, highlighting the risks these fast deliveries pose to gig workers. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he emphasized that these workers are not machines but human beings with families.
Humanizing Gig Workers
Chadha pointed out that delivery workers are often seen as mere cogs in the system, while they are actually integral to the economy. He mentioned that individuals working for companies like Zomato, Swiggy, Blinkit, and Zepto, as well as drivers for Ola and Uber, are the unseen backbone of the Indian economy.
Challenges Faced by Delivery Workers
Despite the growth of quick-commerce companies into billion-dollar enterprises, gig workers continue to face severe challenges. Chadha noted that the pressure for speed leads to dangerous driving practices, as workers fear losing their ratings and jobs.
He also highlighted the harassment workers face from customers, who often react negatively if deliveries are delayed by just a few minutes. This pressure can result in low ratings, further impacting their income.
Additionally, Chadha pointed out the harsh working conditions, where gig workers often endure long hours without benefits such as health insurance or job security. He described their daily struggles, stating that many hide their pain behind smiles as they seek good ratings from customers.
