In New Delhi, A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders met with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha on Tuesday to express their grave concerns regarding the worsening law and order situation in the capital. Led by Delhi State Convenor and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj, they demanded immediate measures to address the increasing incidents of crime, including robbery, snatching, extortion, murder, and the widespread open sale of “dry drugs.” The AAP representatives pointed out that the unchecked drug trade significantly contributes to youth involvement in criminal activities. They also voiced concerns over recent attacks on party members, notably discussing the assault on MLA Anil Jha during his birthday celebrations.

AAP called for an unbiased investigation, the filing of an FIR, and accountability for the attackers, emphasizing that both Jha and his family were targeted. Additionally, they brought up the attack on AAP councillor Gagan within the MCD Zone Chairman’s office in Burari, highlighting that the assailant, known to the police and under a banishment order, was able to escape after the attack. The party criticized the lack of an FIR despite these serious complaints, raising doubts about police operations. Bhardwaj warned that if FIRs continue to go unfiled, AAP may have to resort to legal action.
