Sambalpur: Three individuals lost their lives and five others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents that occurred in Bhadrak and Sambalpur districts on Saturday, according to police reports. In Sambalpur, one person was killed and five critically injured after an ambulance carrying a patient and relatives collided with a truck on National Highway-55 near Phuljharan, within the jurisdiction of the Jujumura police station, as stated by a senior official. The deceased has been identified as ambulance attendant Manabhanjan Sahu. The incident took place while the ambulance was en route to VIMSAR in Burla from Boudh district. “The ambulance attendant died on the scene, and five others were injured. They were transported to a nearby hospital,” the official noted.
In a separate incident in Bhadrak district, two individuals died when a two-wheeler was struck by a bus near Kamaria Chhak on the Bhadrak–Chandbali road, under the Pirhat police station’s jurisdiction. The victims, Golak Das and Daitari Puhana from Balichaturi village, were riding the two-wheeler when a private bus coming from Chandbali collided with them. Local residents staged a blockade on the road, demanding accountability for reckless driving. Pirhat police station Inspector in-charge Rojalin Behera reported that a platoon of officers was deployed in the area to manage the situation.
