During the first ten days of the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025, there was record participation from small and medium businesses (SMBs) across India, surpassing all previous editions, with an unprecedented number of SMBs from Telangana. More than two-thirds of these SMBs are located in Tier 2 and 3 cities and beyond.
There has been over a 50% increase in SMBs generating over INR 1 crore in sales compared to last year, highlighting the surge in seller success at the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025. These milestones underscore the growing importance of digital marketplaces in empowering local entrepreneurs and fostering inclusive economic growth across India. Key festive trends in Telangana include a shift towards premium choices, with smartphones priced above INR 20,000 seeing strong double-digit growth in the festival’s early days. In Hyderabad, premium soundbars gained popularity, and premium televisions larger than 55 inches grew by 25% year-on-year, led by brands like Hisense, TCL, and Samsung.
Premium appliances, such as washer-dryers, experienced over 100% year-on-year growth, while side-by-side refrigerators increased by more than 50% year-on-year. The demand for silver coins and precious jewelry rose by 15 times and twice, respectively. In the grocery sector, Amazon Fresh reported nearly 40% year-on-year growth in the region, reflecting a preference for convenient grocery shopping. Customers in Hyderabad purchased 3.7 times more avocados, with perishables increasing by 1.7 times and milk purchases rising by 4.4 times compared to last year. The beauty category in Hyderabad saw a 1.5 times growth, with hair care styling up by 1.6 times and makeup products doubling in demand.
Men’s watches surged by 12 times, while women’s fashion items, such as Kurtis and sarees, saw an eightfold increase in demand. Additionally, men’s ethnic wear experienced a twofold year-on-year increase in demand. Home upgrades have taken center stage, with kitchen appliances seeing over 130% year-on-year growth in Hyderabad, driven by vacuum cleaners and a 20% year-on-year increase in kitchen storage and cookware. There has also been considerable demand for products like LED bulbs, chandeliers, recliners, and security devices. Gardening essentials are gaining traction, with lawn and garden products increasing by nearly 75% year-on-year in Hyderabad, making gardening products and landscaping tools popular choices. By Day 10, one in four customers utilized Amazon Pay tools for shopping during the sale.
UPI remains a preferred payment method, with one in four orders placed using it and an 11% rise in UPI users compared to last year. Furthermore, one in ten orders was made using the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card.
