The stage is ready for one of India’s rapidly growing sporting events as the two-day American Flag Football National Championship 2025 commences at the historic Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad today. Organized by the Telangana American Football Association under the auspices of the American Football Federation of India (AFFI), the championship will feature leading senior men’s and women’s flag football teams from across the nation. Teams from Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Bihar, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, and the host state of Telangana will compete for national dominance in this dynamic and fast-paced version of American football.
Flag football, a non-contact variant of the sport emphasizing speed, strategy, and skill, has been increasingly popular in India, particularly among youth and women. The AFFI championship seeks to create a national platform for up-and-coming talent and enhance India’s standing in the international flag football scene. Praveen Reddy, President of the Organizing Committee and National Team Head Coach, highlighted the significance of this championship, stating, “This national championship is not just a competition, but a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and the growing passion for American football in India.” The event is sponsored by 4KSports, a dedicated supporter of alternative and emerging sports in India.
Matches will kick off at 9:00 AM on both days, with the finals set for Sunday evening.
