Apple has confirmed September 9 as the date for its eagerly awaited annual fall event, where the next line of iPhones is expected to take center stage. The company is likely to unveil the iPhone 17 series, with a new variant known as the iPhone 17 Air anticipated to be the highlight. This date was announced via official invitations, with the event themed “Awe dropping.” The Apple logo in the invitation glows in blue and yellow hues, prompting speculation about possible new features or design elements related to the iPhone Air.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has also added to the anticipation with a post on X, stating, “Get ready for an awe-dropping Apple event on Tuesday, September 9.” The launch is set to occur at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, and will be streamed live on Apple’s YouTube channel and website, starting at 10 a.m. PT (10:30 p.m. IST). The iPhone 17 Air is being touted as the slimmest iPhone ever made, potentially featuring a profile as thin as 5.5mm. However, this ultra-slim design might come with compromises, as reports indicate it will have a 2,900mAh battery, a significant reduction compared to larger models.
On the performance side, it is expected to utilize Apple’s A19 chipset and the C1 modem, which debuted in the iPhone 16e. In addition to the Air, Apple will also introduce the standard iPhone 17, along with the premium iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Pro models are rumored to undergo a significant design change, incorporating a new aluminum camera module that is seamlessly integrated into the glass back. Both Pro versions are anticipated to feature Apple’s A19 Pro chip for enhanced performance. Reports also suggest that the Pro Max version might include an 8X telephoto camera, catering to photography enthusiasts.
In India, the pricing for the iPhone 17 series is expected to be higher than last year’s models. The base model iPhone 17 is likely to start around ₹79,990, while the iPhone 17 Air could be priced near ₹89,990. The iPhone 17 Pro might retail for approximately ₹1,34,990, and the flagship Pro Max could reach up to ₹1,64,990, a notable increase from the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s ₹1,44,990 price tag. Beyond smartphones, the September event is also anticipated to feature the Apple Watch Series 11, a new generation of Apple Watch Ultra, and AirPods Pro 3. Furthermore, updates on Apple Intelligence, the company’s expanding AI ecosystem, could also be announced.
With the iPhone 17 Air set to introduce a radically new design, this year’s launch is poised to be one of the most compelling in Apple’s recent history.
