Apple Shares Repair Costs for iPhone 17 and iPhone Air in India

Apple has officially released the out-of-warranty repair and service prices for its newly launched iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air. This announcement precedes the global release of the devices, which were introduced during the recent “Awe Dropping” event. Pre-orders are currently available, with sales set to begin worldwide, including in India, on September 19. The newly disclosed pricing is especially relevant for Indian customers, as repair costs for smartphones in the premium segment have been rising consistently. Apple’s clear breakdown of repair costs includes standard services such as battery replacements, display and back glass repairs, rear camera servicing, and more extensive fixes for accidental damage.

Additionally, the company has pointed out the considerable cost differences between regular prices and the discounted rates for AppleCare+ subscribers. Battery replacement fees differ by model. For the iPhone 17, the price is Rs 9,800, while the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Air are each set at Rs 11,800. AppleCare+ users benefit from free battery replacements if their battery tests below 80 percent capacity. Apple clarified, “AppleCare+ includes battery service coverage, meaning your battery can be replaced at no charge if we test your product and its battery retains less than 80 percent of its original capacity.” Display repairs remain one of the costliest services for iPhone users.

Without AppleCare+, replacing the display costs Rs 32,900 for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone Air, while the Pro Max replacement is Rs 38,900. For combined screen and back glass repairs, prices rise to Rs 40,500 for the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and Air, and Rs 46,800 for the Pro Max. AppleCare+ significantly lowers these costs to a flat fee of Rs 2,500 for either screen or back glass repairs, or Rs 5,000 if both are done together. Back glass replacement alone costs Rs 14,900 for all models without AppleCare+, while customers with AppleCare+ pay only Rs 2,500.

Rear camera repair costs are tiered as well: Rs 16,900 for the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, and Rs 25,900 for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. For AppleCare+ subscribers, this service is capped at Rs 8,900. For more serious or undefined issues, repair fees can be substantial. The charge for the iPhone 17 is Rs 66,500, for the iPhone Air it’s Rs 81,900, and both the Pro and Pro Max models are listed at Rs 89,900. Under AppleCare+, a uniform service charge of Rs 8,900 applies, regardless of the model. Apple has emphasized that these listed prices are for out-of-warranty repairs. “These repair prices are only for customers without AppleCare+.

For AppleCare+ plan users, the service fees are much lower, which is one of the reasons we recommend it as an add-on for anyone concerned about accidental damage,” the company stated. With the iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air arriving in Indian stores on September 19, these details offer customers a comprehensive overview of potential future costs and the financial benefits of having AppleCare+ coverage.
