Apple to Quietly Release New M5 iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro

Apple to Quietly Release New M5 iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro

Apple appears set to surprise its users once again this week with new device upgrades. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Cupertino company is preparing to unveil updated versions of the iPad Pro, Vision Pro headset, and the 14-inch MacBook Pro, all featuring the new M5 chip. Unlike Apple’s usual high-profile events, this round of product releases is expected to occur quietly through online updates and brief promotional videos. With Monday being a public holiday in the U.S. and Canada, official announcements could be made later in the week, likely leading to headlines in India soon after.

The new iPad Pro has already emerged in leaked videos from Russia, indicating that the tablet will come with the powerful M5 processor and a minimum of 12GB of RAM as standard. Externally, Apple is not drastically changing the design, though a subtle detail stands out — the familiar “iPad Pro” branding has been removed from the back. Performance seems to be the key focus, with early benchmark results showing the M5 chip delivers up to 12% improved multi-core CPU performance and 36% faster graphics compared to the M4. Despite earlier speculation about a dual front-camera for enhanced video calls, leaked models suggest this feature may not be included in the final product.

Apple’s mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, is also set for a performance enhancement. Gurman reports that this version will also include the M5 chip, ensuring that Apple’s top-tier hardware aligns with the same silicon generation. The upgraded headset might feature a new “Dual Knit Band” for better comfort and potentially a Space Black finish. Regulatory filings indicate it will still support Wi-Fi 6, skipping newer standards such as Wi-Fi 6E or 7. It remains unclear if Apple will market this as the “Vision Pro 2” or simply a hardware update, particularly since development on a true successor and the rumored “Vision Air” is believed to be paused.

Completing the trio, Apple is also preparing an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M5 chip. Gurman suggests this model is “ready for launch,” although higher-end versions with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are not expected until 2026. For now, the design remains the same — familiar aesthetics with minor internal enhancements. Major upgrades like OLED displays, touchscreens, 5G connectivity, and M6 processors on TSMC’s 2nm process are reportedly being reserved for future generations. Beyond these releases, Apple’s roadmap is still full. Future updates are anticipated for AirTags, Apple TV, and HomePod mini, alongside refreshed iPad Air, MacBook Air, and potentially an iPhone 17e next year.

For now, all attention is on this week’s announcements, as Apple quietly expands its M5-powered lineup, demonstrating that innovation can occur without a grand stage.
