Dhenkanal is progressing towards development as the State government works to create job opportunities through industrial investments and various projects. Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra inaugurated the long-awaited Art and Craft centre at Bhagirathi Sagar. In his address, Patra noted that the centre has successfully met the aspirations of culture enthusiasts. He encouraged the district administration to set reasonable fees for users and cultural organizations to help promote art and culture. Furthermore, he mentioned that the State government has acknowledged the well-known Laxmi Puja in Dhenkanal by allocating Rs 50,000 each to 38 bazaar puja pandals.
Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayan Pany emphasized that funding for cultural promotion is abundant and highlighted Odisha’s reputation for its rich and vibrant folk media traditions, including various performing arts, music, and visual art forms. Following the event, Patra informed reporters that the State government has sanctioned a Rs 171.11 crore development package for Mahima Gadi at Joranda and announced plans to establish a new medical college in Dhenkanal.
