Gayaji: The 22nd convocation of Magadh University took place on Tuesday, marking a significant occasion as it was the first in almost a decade. The event gathered university officials, faculty, students, and their families, all eager to commemorate academic achievements. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan served as the chief guest and personally presented convocation certificates to 250 PhD scholars. A notable moment was the awarding of the D.Litt. degree to Bihar Cabinet Minister Ashok Choudhary. Legislative Assembly Speaker Awadhesh Narayan Singh was also recognized with the Doctor of Agriculture (D.Litt.) title for his contributions to education and society. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause during the awards presentation. In his speech, Governor Khan emphasized the significance of genuine knowledge.
He noted that many students strive for better futures for themselves and their families, but true knowledge should encourage individuals to consider the welfare of society and the world. Citing Lord Krishna’s teachings, he stated that those who dedicate themselves to serving others never encounter misfortune and are remembered for their contributions. Following the award presentation, Minister Ashok Choudhary expressed his gratitude, stating that the degree was awarded based on evaluations related to the caste census survey conducted by the Bihar government. He mentioned that this honor further motivates him and underscores the importance of integrating academic pursuits with public service.
