The Congress leader noted that Ajmal had made derogatory statements against the women community and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the past as well. Notably, Ajmal had courted controversy last year by saying that Muslim men get married as soon as they attain the age of 21 as per the law, while Hindus are 40 for having illicit relations with at least three women. They keep themselves unmarried till the age of one year. This is the reason why nowadays Hindus have fewer children.

Ajmal said, after the age of 40, Hindus get married. How can he have children if he marries so late? When you sow something on fertile land, you can expect good results. He advised Hindus to follow the same formula for getting married as Muslims do.

The AIUDF leader had said that if Hindu girls get married at the age of 18-20, they can have a good number of children. In this regard, Ajmal also took a jibe at Himanta Biswa Sarma, after which the AIUDF leader came under fire from the BJP.

The Assam State Commission for Women had also issued a notice to Badruddin Ajmal for those comments.
