Lucknow, April 26 (). Sudhir Mishra, a resident of Chhapra, Bihar, in the name of startup, trains unemployed youths to break ATMs within 15 minutes.
The UP police came to know of this when they arrested four youths for allegedly stealing Rs 39.58 lakh from an ATM in Sushant Golf City police station area of Lucknow.
The police have recovered Rs 9.13 lakh from their possession. The police have now started arresting the gang leader Mishra.
A senior official said that the UP police scanned 1,000 CCTV footage, mobile data and over 20 tolls around Lucknow to trace the accused of ATM theft.
During investigation, a CCTV footage was found from the house near the ATM, the officer said. A blue colored car was traced in which the miscreants had entered the city and fled.
After this the team reached its owner in Sitamarhi, Bihar. Meanwhile, another team of UP Police intercepted the same car on Sultanpur Road in Uttar Pradesh and arrested all four.
Golf City SHO Shailendra Giri said one of the arrested, Neeraj, was a permanent gang member and had five cases registered against him.
Giri said, Neeraj revealed that he had taken training from Mishra on breaking ATMs.
Sources said, unemployed youths are brought from Uttar Pradesh to Chhapra and are taught to break ATMs with new techniques under a three-month ATM crash course. In this, it is told how to hide the identity, spray misty liquid on the cameras installed in the ATM booth and within 15 minutes, cut the cash box of the ATM and run away.
After the training, 15 days live demonstration is also done.
The officer said, only those members who complete the task in 15 minutes or less are sent to the field.
Police said that over 30 such cases have been carried out by the gang in the last one year across the country.
