The banks of the Pamba River, located at the base of Sabarimala, are set to host thousands of devotees and participants for the Global Ayyappa Sangamam starting Saturday. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is scheduled to inaugurate the event at 10 am, with Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan presiding over the proceedings. Officials anticipate attendance from ministers of neighboring states, elected representatives, cultural figures, and members of various social organizations. Organizers have constructed extensive temporary facilities while preserving the delicate ecosystem of the river. German-style hangar tents have been installed at three locations, including a primary venue of 43,000 square feet at Manappuram, which is situated on a river sandbed.
The stage measures 2,400 square feet and is elevated four feet above the ground. Seating arrangements are in place for around 3,000 delegates, with media and green rooms conveniently located nearby. Two additional pandals at Hilltop will accommodate panel discussions and dining options. Additionally, the Travancore Devaswom Board has organized an exhibition celebrating its platinum jubilee. After the summit concludes, all structures will be removed, as confirmed by the organizers. They noted that discussions will be organized into three parallel sessions focusing on the long-term master plan for Sabarimala, enhancing spiritual tourism in Kerala, and addressing crowd management challenges, with contributions expected from police, health experts, and technology partners.
