Kishanganj: On Friday morning, residents of Kishanganj in Bihar were awakened by a sudden earthquake that shook the district, prompting many to rush outside their homes. The tremor, which occurred around 10 a.m., had its epicenter near Narsingdi, approximately 42 km from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and registered a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale. Witnesses described the shaking as abrupt and intense, with one resident stating, “Everything started moving — fans, doors, even kitchen utensils.” The chilly early morning meant that many individuals were still asleep when the quake struck, heightening the sense of alarm.
Although the tremor lasted only a few seconds, it made a considerable impact on residents, who experienced a moment of fear before realizing there was no further shaking. Authorities have confirmed that there have been no reports of damage or casualties thus far. Local administration officials are continuing to monitor the situation to ensure public safety.
