The Bengaluru Torpedoes were declared champions of the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia on Sunday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, following their victory over the Mumbai Meteors with scores of 15-13, 16-4, 15-13 in the final match. Both teams started the game cautiously, controlling play from the middle zone. Petter Alstad Ostvik made a block against Joel Benjamin, but Bengaluru responded with a sharp block by Jishnu on Shubham Chaudhary. Bengaluru gained an early advantage due to strong service pressure from Sethu, compelling the Meteors to request a super point. While the first set remained competitive, Bengaluru captain and setter Matt West’s precise distribution proved crucial, allowing the Torpedoes to secure the opener.
Sethu commenced the second set with the first super serve of the evening. A series of unforced errors from Mumbai shifted the momentum in favor of Bengaluru. Despite Om Lad Vasant’s energetic playmaking for the Meteors, his attackers Shubham and captain Amit Gulia missed key shots. Joel Benjamin’s consistent offensive performance left Mumbai struggling to regain control. The Torpedoes further increased their lead with Joel’s powerful super serve, wrapping up the second set.
