Patna: The counting of votes for the 243 Bihar Assembly seats commenced on Friday morning, starting with the postal ballot counts at all counting centers. Officials anticipate that the postal ballot tally will be finished by 8:30 am, after which the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be unlocked, and initial trends will start to surface. Each counting hall has 14 tables set up to handle 14 EVMs in each round. Barbigha is expected to be the first constituency to announce its results. A total of 46 counting centers have been established across 38 districts. Over 400 reporters from Bhaskar are present on-site to cover all developments.

The counting will decide the fate of 149 candidates in the capital district alone. This year’s election took place in two phases, achieving a record turnout of 67.10%, nearly ten percentage points higher than in the 2020 Assembly elections. Early trends are expected to start appearing shortly after 9 am, setting the stage for what is described as one of the most closely contested elections in the state’s recent history.
