Bihar's Second Phase Voting Shows Increased Turnout Compared to First Phase

Patna: Bihar is on track to achieve another record turnout, with voting in the second phase of the 2025 assembly elections advancing even more rapidly than in the first. As of 1pm on Tuesday, polling across 122 constituencies in 20 districts reached 47.62%, compared to 42.31% at the same time during the first phase. This swift pace raises hopes that Bihar may exceed its own turnout record set just days prior. In the initial phase, held on November 6, the state recorded a total turnout of 65.08% across 121 seats in 18 districts, marking the highest ever in any assembly or Lok Sabha election in Bihar. The Election Commission is providing updated figures every two hours.

Increased turnout has been noted at each of the three checkpoints thus far — 9am, 11am, and 1pm — compared to the first phase. Further updates are anticipated at 3pm and 5pm, followed by the final consolidated statistics. District-wise turnout in Phase 2 until 1pm includes: West Champaran – 48.91%, East Champaran – 48.01%, Sheohar – 48.23%, Sitamarhi – 45.28%, Madhubani – 43.39%, Supaul – 48.22%, Araria – 46.87%, Kishanganj – 51.86%, Purnia – 49.63%, Katihar – 48.50%, Bhagalpur – 45.09%, Banka – 50.07%, Kaimur – 49.89%, Rohtas – 45.19%, Arwal – 47.11%, Jehanabad – 46.07%, Aurangabad – 49.45%, Gayaji (Gaya) – 50.95%, Nawada – 43.45%, Jamui – 50.91%. Total turnout until 1pm: 47.6%.
