Nitish Kumar Assigns Cabinet Portfolios; BJP Gains Key Ministries

Patna: Following his swearing-in for a record tenth term, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has assigned portfolios to the 26 ministers who have joined the new NDA government. The Chief Minister presented the list of ministers along with their departmental allocations to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The coalition, which includes JD(U), BJP, HAM (S), LJP (Ram Vilas), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, has divided control of significant departments such as finance, health, education, and rural administration. Nitish retains oversight of the General Administration Department, Election Monitoring, and several unallocated portfolios. The BJP, holding the majority in the new cabinet, has secured crucial ministries including finance, health, road construction, and agriculture.

In the allocation, Samrat Chaudhary has been assigned the Finance and Commercial Tax departments, positioning him at the core of the state’s fiscal planning. Vijay Kumar Sinha will manage Revenue and Land Reforms, a vital area in a state often embroiled in land disputes. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (JD(U)) oversees General Administration, Election Monitoring, and all unallocated portfolios.

BJP ministers include Samrat Chaudhary for Finance and Commercial Tax, Vijay Kumar Sinha for Revenue & Land Reforms, Mangal Pandey for Health and Law, Dilip Jaiswal for Industries, Nitin Naveen for Road Construction, Urban Development & Housing, Ramkripal Yadav for Agriculture, Sanjay Tiger for Labour Resources, Arun Shankar Prasad for Tourism, Art & Culture, and Youth, Surendra Mehta for Animal & Fisheries Resources, Narayan Prasad for Disaster Management, Rama Nishad for Backward Classes Welfare, Lakhendra Kumar Roshan for SC/ST Welfare, Shreyasi Singh for Information & Sports, and Pramod Kumar (Chandravanshi) for Cooperatives, Environment & Climate Change. JD(U) ministers include Vijay Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shravan Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary, Leshi Singh, Madan Sahni, Mohammad Jama Khan, and Sunil Kumar.

HAM (S) Minister Santosh Kumar Suman oversees Minor Water Resources, while LJP (Ram Vilas) ministers include Sanjay Kumar for Sugarcane Industries and Sanjay Singh for Public Health Engineering. Deepak Prakash from Rashtriya Lok Morcha is in charge of Panchayati Raj. This distribution of portfolios officially establishes the administrative agenda for the NDA government, which is under increasing pressure to deliver on jobs, agriculture, infrastructure, and welfare in the upcoming term.
