Patna, June 4 (). Purnia’s district court has sentenced 35 people to life imprisonment in a double murder case that took place 10 years ago.
On January 30, 2013, a group of 40 people had lynched Mohammad Jameeluddin and his nephew Azhar Alam in broad daylight at Begumpur village in the district.
Four of the accused died during trial, while one turned out to be a juvenile at the time of the murder.
On Saturday, the court convicted 35 accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment, said Om Prakash Paswan, Additional Public Prosecutor in Purnea Court. The juvenile accused was released after spending three years in the observation home. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the convicts.
