Bobby Deol, after three decades in the film industry, is experiencing a thrilling new phase in his career. In a candid conversation with Times Now’s Navika Kumar, he discussed his creative revival through OTT platforms and his collaboration with debut director Aryan Khan on The Ba**ds of Bollywood. “If the show is successful and loved, it’s because of Aryan Khan,” Bobby stated. “He’s calm, mature, and incredibly focused. Not once did he raise his voice or lose his cool, even while pushing us for the perfect take. That’s rare for someone directing for the first time.” Deol expressed that he committed to the project without any reservations. “I understand the pressure that comes with being Shah Rukh’s son.
Directing at this point requires bravery. I wanted to support him. However, Aryan insisted on narrating the story himself — a seven-hour presentation that completely impressed me. His writing, humor, and attention to detail were outstanding.” Bobby noted the similarities between Shah Rukh Khan and his own father, Dharmendra. “Both came from humble beginnings, achieved greatness, yet remained grounded. Aryan embodies that same humility,” he said. He also recognized the life-changing impact of streaming services. “OTT transformed my life. Class of ’83 and Aashram provided me roles that reshaped my image and allowed me to rediscover myself as an actor,” he recalled, mentioning how Class of ’83 moved his brother Sunny to tears.
With The Ba**ds of Bollywood receiving both critical and audience acclaim, Bobby Deol’s journey is one of Bollywood’s most inspiring comebacks. “I feel like I’m starting all over again,” he remarked. “As long as I’m on a set, I’m happy.” From traditional cinema to streaming, Bobby Deol’s growth reflects the evolving landscape of Indian entertainment — grounded, fearless, and continually reinventing itself.
