Bhabhua: Supporters of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate in the Ramgarh Assembly constituency of Bihar’s Kaimur district engaged in a violent demonstration late on Friday, obstructing a major road and throwing stones at the counting center after alleging vote count irregularities. Officials reported that a group of BSP supporters initially blocked the Ramgarh–Mohania road, claiming that authorities were manipulating the count. The protest escalated quickly, with demonstrators advancing toward the main gate of the counting center and throwing stones. Police dispatched to disperse the crowd faced aggression, resulting in two officers suffering serious head injuries, who were treated by medical personnel. Other officers incurred minor injuries while trying to manage the situation.
Some police were compelled to retreat momentarily due to crowd pressure. Additional police reinforcements were sent to the area, but despite efforts to restore order, the blockade persisted, and the protest extended into the night. The situation remained tense at the time of reporting. Senior police officials, including the Kaimur Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, were on-site to oversee the response. BSP supporters alleged their candidate lost last year due to purported rigging during the counting process and accused officials of seeking to repeat similar tactics this time. Police stated that efforts were ongoing to calm the crowd and clear the road.
