New Delhi, May 20 (). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday filed a charge sheet in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the 39-year-old anti-Sikh riots case.
According to media reports, the Congress leader was named in the charge sheet following new evidence against him. Last month, the CBI had collected the voice samples of the Congress leader in connection with the 1984 violence in Delhi’s Pul Bangash area in which three people were killed.
The Congress leader is accused of inciting the mob that killed the victims.
The CBI registered a case on 22 November 2005, in which Gurdwara Pul Bangash in Bara Hindu Rao’s Azad Market, Delhi, was set on fire by a mob.
The CBI had registered a case of arson by a mob on 22 November 2005 at Gurdwara Pul Bangash in Azad Market, Bara Hindu Rao, Delhi. In which three people named Sardar Thakur Singh, Badal Singh and Gurcharan Singh were burnt. The incident took place on 1 November 1984 at Gurdwara Pul Bangash.
A CBI official said that the Justice Nanavati Commission was constituted by the central government in the year 2000 to investigate the incidents of 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi.
After considering the report of the Commission, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Government of India) issued orders to the CBI to investigate the matter against the then Member of Parliament and others.
The officer further said that during the CBI investigation, evidence came to light that on 1 November 1984, the said accused instigated a crowd assembled at Gurudwara Pul Bangash in Azad Market, Delhi, as a result of which the mob burnt Gurdwara Pul Bangash and started burning shops. And besides looting, the mob also killed three Sikhs. The charge sheet has been filed today after investigation, the official said.
