Ara: A somber atmosphere has enveloped the Tarari Assembly constituency following the passing of Chandrashekhar Singh, the Jan Suraaj candidate and a prominent social activist. Singh, a retired head teacher respected for his humility, integrity, and years of community service, died on Friday evening during the election result announcements. Family and party representatives stated that Singh suffered a heart attack at approximately 3am on Friday and was taken to Ruban Hospital in Patna, where he received medical care. His condition reportedly declined by the afternoon. He experienced a second heart attack at 4pm, and despite the medical team’s efforts, he passed away at 7pm.
Singh’s health had first deteriorated on October 31 while he was involved in campaign activities, leading to his hospitalization. Doctors later diagnosed him with kidney failure, for which he was undergoing treatment. A well-respected individual in Tarari and beyond, Singh had been an active member of the Teachers’ Union and had held the position of state president of the Brahmarshi Samaj. His reputation in the community was widely recognized, and his nomination by Jan Suraaj was regarded as a move to introduce a grassroots, service-oriented leader into politics. Chhote Singh, his election agent and a leader among farmers, confirmed the news via phone. As the news spread, grief engulfed Tarari, Kurmuri, and neighboring villages.
Residents referred to his passing as an “irreparable loss” for the region. At the time of reporting, Singh’s body had not yet arrived at his ancestral village of Kurmuri, where it was anticipated to reach late at night.
