Congress-led UDF in Kerala demands judicial probe into AI camera scam

UDF convenor M.M. Hasan and Leader of the Opposition V.D. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his office are behind this scam and till date not a word has been uttered by Vijayan on this scam, which can now be termed as second Lovelin, said Satheesan. We demand a judicial inquiry into this scam.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the Congress-led UDF here.

Satheesan said, even though the project is being implemented by the state public sector Keltron, the sub-contract was given to companies that have no experience or expertise in the sector. All of these can be traced back to companies that were subcontracted and include a construction company building bridges and such projects. This in itself is enough to show that everything was decided with the blessings of Vijayan.

Incidentally, the project was launched by Vijayan last week and Satheesan said it was surprising that state Industries Minister P. Rajiv made a weak defense of the entire project.

Satheesan asked, Rajeev said that State Vigilance is probing it, but we want to inform that they are not probing this particular case but a different case. However, if the vigilance is probing, then how did Vijayan inaugurate the project. He also pointed out that the Industry Secretary will also conduct an investigation, which is hilarious as any officer would be able to conduct such an investigation.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) state secretary M.V. Rejecting all the allegations leveled by the opposition, Govindan said that there was no substance in it.

Govindan said, Satisan should tell what happened to Lovelin first. Also, why should there be a demand for only judicial inquiry, CBI or ED inquiry. We are not a party which indulges in corrupt practices.
