Bengaluru, May 3 (). The BJP is running an aggressive campaign as the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka draw near. The party’s aggression has increased especially after the Congress in its election manifesto promised to ban Bajrang Dal if voted to power.
The national leadership of the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been pushing for the inclusion of the slogan Jai Bajrang Bali in its public meetings. They are claiming that the Congress is insulting Lord Hanuman, revered by all Hindus.
The campaign ‘Main Bajrangi Hoon’ is becoming increasingly viral on social media in Karnataka. Adding to this, Hindutva organizations and Bajrang Dal have called for recitation of Hanuman Chalisa in all temples of the state on Thursday (May 4).
Hindutva organizations and Bajrang Dal have expressed displeasure over the comparison of Bajrang Dal with the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI). Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel in the presence of PM Modi in a public meeting in Moodbidri challenged that if Congress has the capability, then show it by banning Bajrang Dal.
However, Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar, reacting to the controversy after the proposal to ban Bajrang Dal in the manifesto, asked what is the relation between Bajrang Dal and Bajrang Bali (Lord Hanuman).
Shivkumar said, we are also devotees of Lord Hanuman. Are only BJP leaders devotees of Hanuman? The haven of peace (Karnataka) should not be disturbed by disturbing the harmony.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shobha Karandlaje said that Bajrang Dal is a part of RSS and is working together with the youth for the country. It has never been involved in anti-national activities. The Congress manifesto has been issued to please the Muslims.
