New Delhi, May 5 (). The Congress party on Friday targeted Home Minister Amit Shah for promoting all languages equally in the country. The party’s question is why the government is spending only Rs 3 crore on the promotion of Kannada language, while a budget of Rs 640 crore has been kept for Sanskrit.
Kannada has the status of the sixth classical language of India.
Senior party leader Jairam Ramesh said on social media site Twitter on Friday that the Home Minister had said in his interviews that his government would work for the promotion of all languages in the country. Is that why the Modi government has kept a budget of Rs 640 crore for Sanskrit and only Rs 3 crore for Kannada language, while Kannada has the status of the sixth classical language of India.
He asked if that is why the person who had maligned Kevanmpu, Karnataka’s state anthem, has been made the chairman of the text book revision committee. Is that why the names in the Forest Conservation Bill, 2022 were removed from English words and written in Hindi language?
He said, I have a long list, Honorable Home Minister, you work for a person whose mantra is Astyamev Jayate.
His tweet came on the statement of Amit Shah, in which he said that his government is not only promoting Hindi language, but its focus is on all the major languages of the country.
This question was raised by the Congress party at a time when both the parties are gearing up for the Karnataka assembly elections.
Elections for 224 seats in Karnataka are to be held on May 10, while the counting of votes is to be held on May 13.
Congress has included five major promises in its election manifesto, including – Grah Jyoti (free electricity up to 200 units), Grah Lakshmi (Rs 2000 per month to the female head of the family), Anna Bhagya – 10 kg of their choice to poor people Food items (rice, jowar, pulses etc.) are included.
It has also been said by the party that strict action will be taken against any person or organization speaking against religion and caste in the state. If organizations like Bajrang Dal and PFI try to spoil the atmosphere of the state, they will be banned.
The BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also surrounded the Congress for their statement on banning Bajrang Dal in Karnataka.
