Itanagar, April 22 (). Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama is likely to visit Arunachal Pradesh in October-November this year. Chief Minister Pema Khandu gave this information on Saturday.
The Chief Minister tweeted: Had the privilege of meeting with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Messenger of Peace, the embodiment of Compassion, the Ocean of Knowledge, along with my family members this morning. By October-November this year. sought his blessings for the state and its people.
Khandu, however, did not mention the place where he met the 87-year-old spiritual leader.
Meanwhile, locals staged a demonstration in Tawang on Saturday to protest against the malicious propaganda against the Dalai Lama over a video shared on social media recently.
In April 2017, the Dalai Lama undertook a 12-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. His visit was opposed by China.
Beijing had recently expressed displeasure over Home Minister Amit Shah’s April 10-11 visit to Arunachal Pradesh to launch the Vibrant Village Program (VVP) at Kibithu village in Anjaw district, which shares borders with China and Myanmar.
Indian ministers and politicians sharply criticized China for opposing Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh.
