In response to this rising trend, Decathlon India has introduced the Explore Series, a new line of multi-functional bikes specifically designed for Indian riders and their unique conditions. This series marks the first ROCKRIDER collection developed and assembled in India. The range aims to make cycling more approachable for various scenarios, merging the touring comfort of a hybrid bike with the ruggedness of a mountain bike (MTB). Decathlon undertook a design study focusing on the Indian context, which included body proportions, riding habits, and terrain analysis. The research informed the optimal frame geometry, handlebar width, saddle comfort, and component choices. The findings from this local study guided the design and testing of the Explore Series.
The Explore Series by Decathlon includes: ● Adventure Ready (EXPL 50): A lightweight aluminum frame (approximately 2.25 kg), broader 660 mm handlebars for better control, Hartex tan-walled tires suited for both dry and wet conditions, and Microshift gearing for adaptable performance on urban and trail terrains. ● Comfort for Leisure Riding (EXPL 40): Featuring a steel frame with internal cable routing, an ergonomic plush saddle, wider 660 mm handlebars with comfort grips, mechanical disc brakes for dependable stopping power, and components that meet ISO testing standards.
● Reliable Daily Companion (EXPL 30): Specifically designed for everyday use, this model boasts a sturdy steel frame, a rigid fork, user-friendly trigger shifters, and disc brakes, balancing accessibility with the durability needed for daily commutes and casual rides.
